About the awards

The Business Travel People Awards
The Business Travel People Awards are organised by The Business Travel Magazine.
The awards are free to enter and cover a wide range of roles across all sectors of the industry. Individuals and teams can enter as many categories as they wish, subject to eligibility.
The awards ceremony has become one of the most prestigious and popular events in the industry’s social calendar.
Categories are revised each year to reflect industry developments and trends.
Entries are judged by an independent panel of industry experts. Judges initially read all of the submissions to choose a shortlist and then meet in person to select the final winners.
Nominations are submitted online and can come from colleagues, managers, partners or clients. Self-nominations are also welcomed.
Why Enter
The Business Travel People Awards shine a light on the industry’s finest talent. They are highly-respected and much-coveted accolades.
Winning a Business Travel People Award – or being awarded highly commended – will have a significant positive impact on an individual or team, both personally and professionally.
Even being shortlisted as a finalist will significantly raise a candidate’s profile among their industry peers and clients.
Here are just some of the comments from previous winners:
Boosted confidence
Winning the award has really boosted my confidence. Where I may, from time to time, have held back or felt reticent to offer an opinion or advice, particularly to new clients, I now have the validation that I am an expert and know what I am talking about when it comes to extended stay accommodation options. We all suffer with imposter syndrome at times and this award win has certainly helped to ban that type of thinking.
Raised profile
Since winning the award I’ve felt like a celebrity at times. I received such an overwhelming response and support, and continue to do so from family, friends, work colleagues, suppliers and friends across the whole travel, meetings, and events industry. My profile has certainly been raised both internally and externally, winning several internal awards and I’ve recently been promoted. I’m regularly asked to attend panel sessions to discuss sustainability across our industry and sit on several industry board sustainability groups.
Continued value
Winning a People Award feels like a massive validation that what you are doing is working well, and all of the hard work the team has put in is recognised. It means that your industry peers and customers are somehow giving you the rubber stamp of approval. Several of our team (myself included) have been approached to speak at industry events across the UK and sit on judging panels from various different sectors so it has given us the opportunity to network further and spread the word about what we are doing. The value the award brings has continued to our business beyond just the awards evening.
New business wins
When we won it was a win for everyone. Phones were pinging with congratulatory messages. It truly invigorated our wonderful team to strive to be even better. Personally I was humbled and grateful that it allowed everyone a moment to shine and receive a pat on the back from our amazing industry recognising what they do. It’s allowed us the opportunity to put something tangible in front of prospective clients, which has helped in winning new business.
Badge of honour
Winning an award of this nature certainly does bring a certain spotlight when winning new business. There’s a badge of honour when even being nominated for a category at the Business Travel People Awards, letting alone winning one. Recognition is always good to receive, but from industry experts, TMCs and clients – this absolutely resonates the most. To be placed front and centre by such a reputable media outlet is a true honour.
The Ceremony
In 2023, the event will take place at the newly-renovated De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden.
The evening will start with a drinks reception sponsored by Direct ATPI, followed by a sit-down meal in the Grand Hall, during which the winners will be announced.
Guests can buy tables for up to nine people or individual tickets.
In 2023, early bird tickets for the awards ceremony are available until June 23 for £150. After that date, the price will rise to £175.
Tables (for up to nine) are available from £1350 (early bird) and then from £1575.
Ticket price includes the welcome drinks reception, ceremony and a three-course dinner with wine and coffee.
The awards ceremony is the perfect occasion to bring your people together for a night to remember, especially if an individual or team in your organisation has made the shortlist.
The evening also provides a unique opportunity to network with the industry’s most influential figures, thank your existing clients, make new contacts, help secure new business and show your support for the wider industry.
Once the shortlist is announced, tickets sell very quickly so it’s advisable to book as soon as possible, especially if you want a table. Sponsorship packages include tables.
